Distinguished geologist, eminently successful explorer for and developer of the earth's energy resources and enlightened and responsible citizen of the world, Roy Michael Huffington has through his efforts in many fields in many areas made possible a significant improvement in the human condition. He has served his country in war with bravery, his university with thoughtfulness and generosity and humankind through tireless efforts in support of education, medicine, the arts and interaction between peoples across the face of the globe. In recognition of these accomplishments, Southern Methodist University is honored to confer upon its distinguished alumnus, Roy Michael Huffington, the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa.
